Greetings and Happy New Year

Welcome to the first month of a year of change and surprises. The beginning of 2025 occurred when the New Moon in Capricorn shone on December 30. The energy of this New Moon will be strong until the Full Moon in Cancer on January 13. The New Moon in Capricorn focuses us on development of maturity and integrity, commitment and contribution, the stage of adulthood and accountability. Thereafter we have one change after another with the patterns created by the planets keeping up moving forward and backward simultaneously, like the Roman god Janus for whom January is named. We are in the midst of realizations and revelations which are potentially life altering. As we navigate this path to the future, we need to look for opportunities to take control of what is possible.

The planet Venus shows us the way between January 2-February 4, as she moves into Pisces, the sign of kindness, compassion and magic. We will have a review period of our success during March and April as Venus moves backward from March 1 in fiery Aries and moves backward into Pisces once more on March 27, until the retrograde period ends on April 12. These are times to be clear about relationships, as well as what you value and how to manage your finances. Venus will leave Pisces for 2025 on April 30. The season of intense feeling, creativity and magical energy has hopefully worked its magic on our consciousness.
The next opportunity for growth occurs on January 3, when retrograde Mars in Leo opposes Pluto at the door of Aquarius. This will be a somewhat revisiting journey since Mars and Pluto opposed one another on November 5, 2024 with both planets in Capricorn. The pattern on January 3 may bring out repressed emotions, such as anger or exuberance for life. Coincidentally Jupiter, the planet of expansion, is still moving in square to Saturn, the planet of contraction. This is a huge pattern for struggle and confusion.

On January 11, get ready for a sea change and the nodes changing signs from Aries/Libra to Virgo/Pisces. The pattern of nodes shifts every 18 months, and this shift moves us from cardinal energy to mutable energy. Unlike the Aries/Libra polarity which focuses on self/others, we are moving toward a practical mind-body healing (Virgo) and spiritual integration (Pisces). This is our opportunity to balance Virgo’s grounded, detail-oriented action with Pisces’ compassionate empathy and mystical approach to life. As we integrate the practical Virgo with the transcendent Pisces our consciousness will unite us with a profound spiritual connection. The goal is to integrate compassion, flexibility, empathy, service, healing and sensitivity to others. On January 12 Mars and Neptune form a supportive triangle and the Sun and Uranus come along for the ride, bringing the energy of these four planets to help us in our task for the next 18 months.

The Full Moon in Cancer on January 13 has Mars on the Moon which brings powerful energy to this Full Moon. Be prepared for surprise events since the trickster planet Uranus is close to the Sun and Moon. All roads lead to enlightenment and success. This moon is called a Wolf Moon, which energizes the water energy which allows us to reflect on our past and better understand our foundations. Pay attention to what your heart and soul are telling you as you make plans.

On January 19 the Sun moves into Aquarius for a month of freeing energy and surprising challenges The planet Uranus rules Aquarius, bringing us new inventions, desire to be part of the collective and an awareness of our need to be in groups of kindred spirits. On January 21 the Sun and Pluto join together, offering us the opportunity to experience a personal phoenix taking us to paths we have never walked. This is a period of energy renewal and transformation. On January 25 Venus in Pisces makes a triangle with Mars in Cancer, urging us to relax and dream about the goals we want to accomplish.

On January 29 Mercury moves into air sign Aquarius, a breath of freedom and freshness we all have been waiting for. The New Moon in Aquarius occurs on the same day and it may be possible that life altering events are following. The New Moon is the best time to plant seeds of new beginnings and taking action. The energy of air sign Aquarian planets are full of optimism. On January 30 the planet Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, jumps back into motion allowing more transformation, radical change and freedom. As we speed up we will have the opportunity to find new ways to grow and solve problems. By month’s end we will be facing the future and making plans for our success.

There is so much radical change in 2025, that I believe we all need to be prepared to move forward with greater ease.
