I hope you had a healthy happy holiday as December came to an end.  As the year turns, we begin a new numerology pattern, beginning a 1 year and releasing the 9 years we have left behind.  On January 1 Mercury entered goal-oriented Capricorn, joining the Sun, Venus, and Mars, allowing us to develop greater responsibility and integrity, commitment and balance in our relationships.  As we stand at the edge of a new year, we have a blank slate, and it is time to study the planetary patterns of 2026.  The patterns of the planets help us understand what might be around the next bend in the road.  As January begins Venus and Mars move together with the Sun in close proximity in Capricorn.  There is a rare pattern called Cazimi in early January as Venus and Mars move into the heart of the Sun, bringing desire and action, attraction and will, as the planets are fused together in the heart chakra. This is a truly rare and powerful passage of recalibration of our values, passions, desires and purpose.  These planets are reborn at the alchemical heart and are carried forward into our lives. 

What a beginning of 2026!  The major astrological patterns of January 2026 are below:

FULL MOON IN CANCER ON JANUARY 3:

The Full Moon in Cancer is expanding our feeling functions as Jupiter joins the Moon and opens the door to deep feelings, shining on issues of home and family and the desire for nurturing so we can feel safe.  This is the first of a pattern of major shifts and accelerated growth as 4 of the 5 outer planets make elemental change from earth and water signs into fire or air signs.

CAZIMIS IN CAPRICORN ON JANUARY 6, 7 & 9:

The rare cazimi of January 6 has Venus joining the Sun in Capricorn, following Venus joining Mars on January 7 and the Sun conjoining Mars on January 9.  The cazimis in Capricorn with Venus and Mars focus on values and action (1/6 – 1/9).  With Jupiter opposing the planets in Capricorn, the Sun will promote greater responsibility and maturity.  Venus in Capricorn opens our heart, showing us how we would like to give and receive love.  Mars in Capricorn brings us assertive energy and shows us how we deal with conflict.

NEW MOON IN CAPRICORN; MERCURY JOINS MARS JANUARY 17

As the New Moon renews our desire to succeed and grow, the joining of Mercury and Mars energizes our brains, urging us to be courageous and never give up.  With the Sun and Moon at 29 degrees of Capricorn, with Mercury, Venus and Mars, this large stellium in Capricorn brings us unlimited success if we keep our eye on the prize.  We are shifting out of earth into air as the Sun enters Aquarius.

SUN ENTERS AQUARIUS (1/19), MERCURY TRINES URANUS (1/19)

As the Sun enters air sign Aquarius, the shift from earth to air is a radical change, bringing detachment, insight and innovation.  The intensity of Mercury making a trine to Uranus, the planet ruling Aquarius, allows us to dream big, try new ideas and expect the unexpected.  Now that Mercury has entered Aquarius, we should lighten up and enjoy the company of others, especially those with big ideas.  The future is now!

SUN, MERCURY, PLUTO CONJOIN IN AQUARIUS (1/21-23);  MARS ENTERS AQUARIUS (1/23)

Now that the earth planets Mercury, Sun, Pluto and Mars have moved into Aquarius, the future takes over our lives.  When Pluto and the Sun connect on January 23, deep transformation, power dynamics and uncovering hidden truths will be our assignment.  After Mercury leaves on January 20 and enters Aquarius, Mercury will have left Neptune in Pisces for the final time in our lives.  With Neptune entering Aries we can close a chapter of confusion and magical thinking and choose detached and realistic possibilities for the future.  With Neptune moving into Aries (1/26) it is time to be more interested in the big picture.   On January 22 Mercury and Pluto connect as we move into power and transformation and hidden truths.  It is a powerful time for shedding old habits and embrace innovation.  As we clear the path for a bold new direction that supports pursuit of growth.

NEPTUNE LEAVES PISCES AND RE-ENTERS ARIES (1/26); MARS CONJUNCTS PLUTO (1/27)

Neptune has finally moved out of Pisces and entered fire sign Aries, infusing us with courage, as we become Spiritual Warriors, fearless instead of fearful (1/26).

We had a sample of this pattern in 2025 (3/30-10/22) and are now moving into the warrior energy.  To intensify this change and challenge, Mars, the ruler of  Aries has moved into the power of Pluto (1/27), bringing breakthroughs and new life skills.  On January 29 Mercury joined Venus which encourages us to spend time with friends and join groups of like-minded people.
